Dental implants are artificial tooth roots made of biocompatible materials, typically titanium. These implants are surgically placed into the jawbone, where they fuse with the bone through a process called osseointegration. Once integrated, the implant acts as a sturdy foundation for a replacement tooth, known as a crown, or for other dental prosthetics like bridges or dentures.
